The Beatification Process of the Venerable Servant of God Elizabeth Sanna has recently completed further and significant progressive steps. On July 23rd past the Procurator General Fr Jan Korycki SAC delivered documentation to the Vatican Congregation for the Causes of the Saints. This was the Diocesan Inquest into the presumed miraculous healing of a young woman in Brazil received through the intercession of the Venerable. After this Cardinal Angelo Amato SDB, Prefect of the Congregation of the Causes of the Saints, has decided to present in 2012 the new position on the virtues of the Servant of God to the judgement of the Commission of Theological Consulters and then of the Cardinals and Bishops. It is worthwhile to record that this Position was already positively judged by the Historical Commission on April 22nd 1997. Without wishing to anticipate the final judgement of the Holy See, but with a great hope we look forward to the positive evaluation of the Commissions and then the Decree of the heroic nature of the virtues of the Venerable formulated by the Holy Father. Thus, we wait faithfully recognition of the healing as miraculous and the Beatification itself. For all this, it is necessary for the friends of the Venerable to continue to pray.

The anniversary of the death of Venerable Elisabetta Sanna, which falls on February 17th, was celebrated two days later this year on the 19th and was exceptionally well-attended. Fr. Jacob Nampudakam, the Rector General of the Society of the Catholic Apostolate, was the main concelebrant at the Holy Eucharist, and during the homily he underlined the fact that 'this tremendous example of woman, widow, mother, notwithstanding her physical disadvantages, lived a life of communion with God, with others and with herself'. At the end of the Mass Mr. Gianfranco Casu, the President of the Sardinian Committee for the Beatification shared with those present his own devotion to the Servant of God and he informed them of the preparation of a new book on her. The Postulator, Fr. Jan Korycki spoke of the diocesan process of investigation into a cure attributed to the intercession of the Venerable which is taking place in Brazil. Thanking the participants, he remarked upon the commitment of the President and Vice-President of the Association of Sardinians of Rome, "Il Gremio", Antonio Masia and Giovanni Battista Sotgiu, who were present at the Liturgy, to the Cause of Beatification. Our prayer to implore the grace of the beatification of the Venerable was animated by a new Sardinian male choir called Su Cuncordu Corronzanesu, under the direction of Mr. Luigino Cossu. At the end of the Mass they were heartily applauded. VIDEO

The beatification process of God's servant Josef Engling, student at the Pallottine Minor Seminary in Germany has made a further and very important step forward. The Congregation for the Causes of Saints, during its Congress of 2 April 2009, has acknowledged the diocesan investigation made in the diocese of Treviri in Germany relative to the continuation of the reputation of holiness by Engling and has issued a decree of validity. With this act the process enters an apostolic level, namely in the Holy See. At this point we wait for the appointment of a Relator by the Vatican Congregation, under whose guidance we will write the Positio on virtues. It is worth recalling that Josef Engling (1898 - 1918) was a student at the Minor Seminary of our Society at Vallendar/Schönstatt from 1912 until his death. There he distinguished himself not only in his studies but above all in the formation of his character, in the veneration of Our Lady and for his determined desire to become a saint. Of great help for his growth was the Spiritual Father of the Seminary, Fr. Joseph Kentenich, Pallottine, founder of the Schönstatt Movement. During the first world war, in 1916 Joseph Engling was obliged to give up his studies and became a soldier. He died on 4 October 1918 near Cambrai in France. In the period between the first and second world war Joseph Engling had a great reputation of holiness and therefore on 25 February 1948, the SAC General Council decided to start a process for his beatification.

On last 17 February, as in the previous years, in our church of SS. Salvatore in Onda in Rome, numerous persons prayed for the beatification of Venerable Elisabetta Sanna, on the 152th anniversary of her death. The Eucharistic concelebration was presided over by Fr. Francesco Todisco SAC, General Consultor and Rector of the church. At the end of the Holy Mass, Mrs Nina Sanna of Ozieri, belonging to the Franciscan Secular Order like Elisabetta herself, shared with the participants her as well as her husband's profound and beautiful testimony of spiritual affiliation to the Venerable Servant of God. Here are some sentences from her testimony which lasted for 20 minutes: "In July 1994, kneeling in front of the tomb of the Venerable, I prayed with tears and asked for the grace of peace in my family...Upon return to Ozieri, Francesco, my husband, began to show great availability and together we started collaborating with the Committee for the beatification of the Venerable, presided over by Dr. Attilio Deriu... We deepened our knowledge of the earthly life of our Venerable with the help of the book written by Fr. Amoroso, and, subsequently, also of her Spiritual Director St. Vincent Pallotti... I thank the Lord for all that He has done in our family through the intercession of Mother Sanna. We found not only the peace but also the Lord called us to a faith journey, for me in the Franciscan Secular Order and for my husband in the Renewal in the Spirit".

On last 17 February, the 151st anniversary of the death of Venerable Elisabeth Sanna, was celebrated in the church SS. Salvatore in Onda in Rome. The intention of the Eucharistic celebration was to pray for the beatification of this Servant of God. The Celebration was presided over by Fr. Gaetano Ianni SAC, President of the National Coordination Council of the UAC in Italy. At the end of the Mass, Mr Angelo Montonati, famous journalist and author of the booklet titled «Elisabeth Sanna The Saint from Sardegna who conquered the hearts of the Romans", gave a very interesting talk on the life and spirituality of Elisabeth. At the end, having encouraged those who were present to pray for the grace of beatification of Elizabeth, he concluded the message in these words: "There is no painful situation which, with the help of God, cannot be used for the good of our soul; there is no mistake, however grave it may be, that cannot be remedied with the help of God, transforming them even to occasions of authentic conversion. We can therefore leave this church with the certainty of having two holy saints, one is already canonised - St.Vincent Pallotti - and the other is on the way to sainthood. They remain models for us, pray for us and help us in our arduous journey of faith".
