Pallotti Institute - 3rd encounter 2007 PDF Print E-mail
The third of the Encounters organized by the Pallotti Institute took place on June 14th. 2007.  The programme for this year follows the themes of the book, "God, the Infinite Love" of St. Vincent Pallotti, and Fr. Manuel Ruiz Jurado, SJ, professor of Spirituality at the Gregorian University, spoke on "The ways to restore the image of God in every person".  The speaker developed the topic starting with the method and instruments used by St. Vincent Pallotti to revive the image of God in every person. Being a learned professor and a good preacher, Pallotti was convinced that the way to restore the image of God starts with the recognition of God's greatness and of human poverty in a climate of meditation on the truths of our faith.  Meditation was, for Pallotti, a way to pass from a cerebral faith to a faith of the heart.  This is the only road to rediscovering the image of the living God which was fully revealed in Jesus Christ, the Son of God.  For this reason St. Vincent Pallotti proposes the meditations on God as creator of the universe and on Jesus Christ as the perfect image of the invisible God.  These affirmations raised questions about the contemporary world which has difficulty in accepting the message that the image of God is present in every person.  In the first place there is widespread relativism in the life of modern man who does not find solid bases for his existence. This is compounded by the mass media which, through television, the press, internet, etc, divulges an incomplete image of the human person, and even, at times, a deformed one.  The only way to remedy this situation is to revive faith through contemplative meditation and prayer. Here the method of Pallotti is shown to be very relevant as it proposes that one stop and meditate on the fundamental truths of human existence.
