The annual meeting of the General Secretariat for the Missions was held in Rome from 28th Feb- 1st March 2012. The principal part of the meeting was dedicated to the preparation of the Congress for the Mission Secretaries that due to difficulties is postponed until October 2013.
In view of the Consultative Congress of the Major Superiors of the Society in Thurles, Ireland (October 2012) suggestions were formulated to be presented to them. Furthermore, they dealt with questions regarding missionary animation within our community, with particular reference to Pallottine Mission Sunday.
Fr Adam Wolanin S.J. Missiology Professor at the Gregorian University spoke of the struggles and the problems that globalisation presents for the mission 'ad gentes.'
The economic subsidies for the missionaries and the students were distributed. The Secretariat also presented to the General Regime their opinions on requests for study grants.
The Secretariat has decided that Pallottine Mission Sunday in 2012 will be dedicated to the new mission only just opened in Apunchal Pradesh, India. The next meeting of the Secretariat is programmed for the 5th-6th March, 2013, in Rome.

The annual meeting of the Council of the General Secretariat for the Missions took place in Rome from 1 to 3 March 2011. The main part of the meeting was dedicated to elaborating the principal points of our missionary methodology. The impulse for such a reflection was a letter which the Rector General Fr. Jacob Nampudakam had addressed to the members of the Secretariat.
The principal questions taken into consideration were: missionary promotion in our communities, Pallottine Missionary Sunday, the decisions of the last General Assembly regarding the missions, economic subsidies for missionaries and students, requests for scholarships.
The Secretariat also decided that Pallottine Missionary Sunday of 2011 would be dedicated to the South Korean mission, prepared the programme for the formation meeting for young missionaries which will take place in July in Rome, and established that the next Missionary Congress will take place in Rwanda/Congo in the month of October 2012. The next meeting of the Council of the Secretariat La prossima riunione del Consiglio del Segretariato will be held in Rome from 28 February to 1 March 2012.

The General Secretariat for the Missions has prepared the second bulletin, "Missions SAC", on the missionary activities of the Society. The Provincial/Regional Secretaries sent materials on their missions and apostolates to Rome, which were edited and translated into seven languages and were then sent out to all the Major Superiors and Mission Secretaries for distribution. We hope that the information on the missionary initiatives of the Society will increase the missionary spirit and enhance collaboration among the Pallottine entities.

The annual meeting of the Council of the General Secretariat for the Missions took place in Rome from 3 to 5 March 2010. Fr. Gilberto Orsolin (SM) the Secretary General for the missions, Fr. Peter Sticco (IC), Fr. Xavier Royappan (BA) and Fr. Stanislaw Filipek were present for the meeting while Fr. John Kelly (IR) and Fr. Grzegorz Mlodawski (WA) were absent. Bro. Bert Meyer (CJ), the new provincial Secretary for the missions of Austrian/German Province of "heart of Jesus" too was present for the first time.

The first intervention was by Fr. Friedrich Kretz on the central theme of the next General Assembly, namely "to Revive the faith and rekindle the charity": The Apostles of Jesus Christ in the changing world. Later Fr. Tadeusz Wojda (WA), an expert on the theme of mission and Head officer in the Congregation for the Evangelisation of people, made his presentation on the theme, "St. Paul and the new areopagus". In the discussion on this presentation and on the reality of pallottine mission, along with the the members of the Council, Fr. Daniel Rocchetti (RJ) and Fr. Jean Bertrand Etoundi (CN), two students of missiology, studying at Urbaniana University, too, took part.
The Council of the Secretariat also dealt with the general issues, such as, the distribution of grants and aid to missionaries and students; the Pallottine Mission Sunday; the next meeting of the Secretaries for the Pallottine missions and the meeting of permanent formation for new missionaries.
The results of this meeting were presented and discussed in the General Council and sent to the provincials, regionals, and to the respective Secretaries for the missions.

Carissimi confratelli

Il Segretariato Generale per le Missioni SAC, con l’obiettivo di mantenere la comunione e la collaborazione tra le Province/Regioni, conoscere più profondamente le nostre realtà missionarie, essere vicini ai missionari e rinnovare lo zelo missionario in tutta la Famiglia Pallottina, ogni anno, prepara un sussidio per la celebrazione della Domenica Missionaria Pallottina.

Dopo la bellissima esperienza che ho vissuto quest’anno, insieme a D. Janusz Łuczak, durante la Visita Ufficiale alla missione della Papua Nuova Guinea, della Provincia dell’Annunciazione del Signore (Polonia), vi presento il materiale in allegato. In questo modo potrete conoscere la storia del paese, la presenza della Chiesa ed il lavoro e la testimonianza dei nostri confratelli. Mi auguro che la condivisione del loro lavoro vi possa ispirare nella preparazione della Domenica Missionaria Pallottina, che questo anno avrà luogo il 04 ottobre 2009.

The SAC General Secretariat for the Missions, in order to maintain communion and collaboration among the Provinces/Regions, to know our missionary realities more profoundly, to be close to our missionaries and to renew the missionary zeal in the entire Pallottine family, prepares every year some materials for the celebration of the Pallottine Mission Sunday.
fter the beautiful experience I have had this year, along with Fr. Janusz Łuczak, during the Official Visitation to the mission in Papua Nuova Guinea, of the Province of the Annunciation of the Lord (Poland), I offer you some related materials in the attached file. In this way you can know the history of this country, the presence of the Church and the work and testimony of our confreres. I hope that the sharing of their missionary work will inspire you in the preparation for the Pallottine Mission Sunday, which will take place this year on 04 October 2009.

As it is customary every year, from 21 to 23 May 2009 there was the meeting of the Council for the Secretariat General for the Missions. The programme included: the presentation of new Council members, the evaluation of the Course held at Grottaferrata, the presentation of the activity by the Provincial/Regional Secretariats, the main themes of pallottine missionary Sunday, present situation of the Missionary Fund. In relation to this latter item, the difficult world economic situation has forced us to reduce some aids normally given to missionaries and the number of scholarships for confreres in mission countries.

As we have already informed you, between 12 and 20 May the second Formation course for Pallottine missionaries took place at the Pallottine Spirituality Centre at Grottaferrata. For the first time the Course was organised and led by the persons responsible of the General Councils for the Missions of the three originally founded Pallottine Communities. The additional first time was the participation of some lay people involved in missionary apostolate either directly in missions or in Pallottine entities. The core of the Course, in addition to spiritual, theological and practical reflections, was the witness of missionaries who gave an report of their experiences which showed a rich and fruitful pallottine missionary commitment. The experience from the Course, in the opinion of participants, has given great impulse in order to continue missionary involvement and commitment, bearing in mind the motto of the Course, i.e. "Together for the Mission". The Course of formation for Pallottine Missionaries will be held from 12 to 20 May 2009 at Grottaferrata (Rome). It is expected to have 45 participants from the Pallottine family including laity, confreres and sisters. The coordinators will be Fr. Gilberto Orsolin, Sr Rita Lore SAC and Sr Lilly Nanat CSAC, in collaboration with the General Secretariat of our Society.
The principal themes will be: the Pallottine missionary spirituality in the spirit of the Cenacle; the present day context of the world and man and its repercussions for the missions; the person of the missionary; the spiritual and communitarian dimension of collaboration; the missionary spirit of St.Vincent Pallotti; the presentation of the history of the Pallottine missions of the three entities SAC, CSAC and SMSAC. Speciial attention will be given to the sharing of missionary experiences, visit to the Pallottine places in Rome and audience of the Holy Father Benedict XVI. PROGRAMME

The General Secretariat for the Missions of the Society has published the first issue of the Bulletin on "SAC Missions" which as Fr. Gilberto Orsolin states has the scope of "sharing the new initiatives and increase collaboration" in the Pallottine family in the missionary field. This issue presents the Course of Formation for Pallottine Missionaries, which will be held at Grottaferrata from 12 to 20 May 2009, the news from the Mission Secretariats and some missionary witnesses. The General Secretariat for the Missions of our Society has prepared material for Pallottine Mission Sunday to be held on 5th October 2008, it presents the mission reality of the Delegature of Christ the King Province, “Saint Therese of the Child Jesus” in Colombia and Venezuela. The aims of this material are manifold: to grow in communion and in cooperation between Provinces and Regions, to feel close to brothers and sisters who work in the missions, to understand more deeply our missionary reality and renew our zeal for them throughout the Society. To all Provincial/Regional Rectors
and Missionary Secretaries of the SAC

Dear brothers,

The Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI, has invited us to reflect on the occasion of World Mission Day on the urgency of announcing the Gospel in our times; he writes: "... the missionary mandate continues to be an absolute priority for all the baptized who are called to be ‘servants of and apostles of Jesus Christ', in these early years of the millennium."

The General Secretariat for the Missions of the Society, inspired by these words and seeking to concretize our Pallottine charism, has prepared material for the celebration of Pallottine Mission Sunday which will take place on Sunday October 5th 2008.

This year we introduce the missionary presence of the Delegature of Saint Teresa of the Child Jesus, Colombia and Venezuela, which is of Christ the King Province. Our goal is the growth of communion and collaboration between the Provinces and Regions, to be close to our confreres and the Sisters who work in the missions, to come to know the concrete situation of our missions and thus renew our zeal for them in the entire Society.

It is our hope that this material will be both an inspiration and a help to prepare the Eucharistic Celebration and especially the homily for that Sunday. We ardently recommend a reading of the Message of Pope Benedict XVI which was published on May 11th 2008.

United with you in joy as we serve God and one another with our missionary work, I pray that the peace of Christ be with us all. May Mary, Queen of Apostles and St. Vincent Pallotti intercede for all the missions of the Church.
